Every Main Character needs a side quest. Here are 52 of them

I've wanted to write a book for as long as I can remember, and I still can't quite believe I'm typing this. But here it is. 52 Side Quests is my first book, and preorders are open. It lands on shelves in February 2027, but if you order now you'll be first in line when it arrives.

So what is a side quest?

If you've been following my side questing content, you'll already know the idea. A side quest is a small (or sometimes big!), brave thing you do just for you. It might be heading to a gig on your own, or finally trying that wild swim you've been eyeing up for months, or maybe even attending a fantasy ball across the other side of the world!

On its own, a side quest rarely changes your life. Do enough of them, though, and you start to notice something, you've become someone who says yes and thats when things really begin to shift. 

The book has one side quest for every week of the year and you can work through them in order or flick to whichever one feels right that week. There's no wrong way to do it.

Why I wrote it

The idea had been quietly brewing in The Armoury for a while. Every month there has its own theme, and each one comes with 4 side quests for members to take on together.

September's theme was Home & Hearth, and the latest side quest was to turn your spice rack into your very own green apothecary. Members gave their kitchens a name and relabelled their jars of spices and herbs with the Latin names. Then came the fun bit, digging into the folklore behind their most-used herbs and how they've been used in spell casting over the centuries. It was gloriously witchy and I loved every minute of it.

I've watched women who swore they'd never do something on their own come back buzzing because they'd done exactly that. Some shared photos with the group and others lurked in the shadows and were just quietly proud of themselves. Either way, it was working, and the more quests we did, the more I wanted to give the concept the space it deserved.

I wanted it to be the kind of book you keep and take on adventures with you. The one that’s constantly present in your life, whether inspiring you daily, weekly or even seasonally should a Halloween or Birthday quest call your name. Years from now, I'd love for you to pick it up and remember the week you finally booked that solo trip or turned up to a class where you didn't know a single person and be so proud of yourself. You may even realise that it was the moment your lore truly began.
